Our mixed recycling service is designed to let businesses throughout Oxford safely and easily recycle dry mixed materials.
Products that are free from contaminants can be sent for recycling in a way that’s cost-efficient, fast, and convenient for businesses of all sizes. At Oxford Direct Services, we offer collection six days a week, and we can also provide the appropriate bins and recycling sacks to make it easy for your organisation to begin responsible mixed recycling.
What can go in your mixed recycling?
A number of items can go into your mixed recycling bin, including:
- Cardboard and paper
- Metal tins, cans and foil
- Most plastic packaging
- Foil trays
- Food tins and drink
What don’t we accept?
Please note that we are not able to accept mixed recycling bins that include:
- Black sacks and bin bags

- Tapes (VHS) and discs (CDs, DVDs, Blu-Ray)
What happens to your mixed recycling waste?
Materials are collected and sent to a Materials Recovery Facility (MRF), where they are sorted and sent to different manufacturers for repurpose.
Recycled materials are made into new products that are used here in the UK; for example, all newsprint is now made from 100% recycled paper. The UK also exports recyclable materials to other countries, too.

Mixed recycling bins are available in the following sizes:
- 240 L (holds 3 sacks)
- 360 L (holds 5 sacks)
